Best asian restaurant in Toronto in 2017

The top Chinese restaurants in Toronto represent just a portion of the varied selection of regional offerings available here. And though many would assert you should really go to Markham and Richmond Hill to get the real deal, Scarborough our downtown Chinatowns and areas in between still have their share of winners.

Rol San

This late-night Chinatown favourite is definitely jam-packed with those who can not get enough of their classics like ho fan noodles and spicy ginger beef. Not to mention, it's a really popular all-day dim sum.

Taste of China

The fantastically cumbersome name doesn’t detract from the fact Flavor of China is, for many, a taste of superiority. Popular among the late night crowd for sizzling seafood on skillets and its outstanding General Tao Chicken, it’s one of the places that you just merely must go when you’re in downtown Chinatown.

Sam Woo BBQ

This Scarborough mainstay has been satisfying old school Cantonese BBQ pork enthusiasts for more than twenty years. Tender and perfectly crispy roast pork skin BBQ pork meat blended with old school unfussy décor makes for an awesome meal.

Congee Wong (Finch and Leslie)

For my money my favourite one is the North York place, although there are numerous Congee Wongs near that it can make your head spin. Sure it might get crowded during mealtimes, but at least it’s open late, as well as their Cantonese Chow Mein Fried Chili Turnip Patties never fails to make me smile.

Qin Tang Taste

Home to the awesomely chewy biang biang noodles and other Shanxi specialties, this little Scarborough restaurant is truly the first Toronto place of a big Beijing-based chain. My personal favourite? The Shanxi Sliced Noodle with Stir-Fried Pork Slices. Long name, dish that is delicious.

Asian restaurants in York

Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant

The longstanding institution near City Hall could be a bit oily but they make an oh-so-satisfying General Tao Chicken and Sizzling Chili Chicken. Wash it all down with cocktails with names like the Stormy Night in Hong Kong.

Luckee

This upscale eatery from Susur Lee inside the Soho Met features all-day dim sum, sweet-tasty Wuxi spare ribs and elaborate cocktails, all served underneath the gleam of some garish quasi- lightings and stereotypical Chinese decorations.

Asian Legend

By far the largest mainstay Chinese restaurant chain in Toronto, this restaurant is the spot to go when you’re looking for a wide selection of genuine Chinese offerings. I’m a huge supporter of the Peking duck, and also the soup dumplings here are constantly on my order list.

House of Gourmet

This restaurant near Spadina and Dundas looks lowly from the surface but is a constant hub of action, with superior dishes like claypot tofus and satay beef noodles. It has a devoted takeout BBQ joint, perfect for those nights when you would like to feast on pork or duck on your couch.
